Limted Edition Prints
In recent years, a healthy collectors market has been established in the case of limited editions.
Put simply, the publisher (or in some cases the artist direct) runs a limited edition of high quality silkscreen or gicleé prints from the original art. These will be numbered and signed by the artist.
Once the run has finished the printing blocks are destroyed, preventing further copies being made. As a result, with the best artists, they can rapidly sell out, occasionally even before full release, and the relative value on the resale market can increase dramatically.
