Conservation and Museum Framing

The important issue is the long term care of valuable art.
The term 'conservation' is often over-used with all manner of products being sold as 'acid-free' or 'conservation'.
These products are sometimes used with scant regard or attention to the methods necessary to make the most of the protection afforded by these products. A regular example of this is the hinging of original and delicate watercolours using masking tape. The glues in the tape will adversely affect the artwork, and in time probably fail allowing the work to fall within the frame, and worse render it near impossible to remove the glue residue in years to come. This will reduce the value of even the most prized work, therefore it hardly matters if a "conservation" mountcard has been used or not.
The true purpose of Conservation Framing is to protect the artwork being framed. All processes should be reversible and the materials used should be non harmful and PH neutral or better. The frame should be constructed and sealed so as to protect the picture or other artwork, and front and rear mount cards should be of a good quality.

At Picture Perfect we are able to frame to standards ensuring the best care to your artwork, whether it be pastels, watercolours, oil paintings or old photographs. In short you can trust us.
